Mob blocks NH protesting hit-and-run case

A mob blocked the National Highway for nearly three hours today after an elderly person was run over by a bus today.
According to police officials, the 70-year old Khirod Borah died on spot at Dipota under Bebejia police outpost limits when a bus hit him.
The vehicle was on way from Guwahati to Tezpur on NH 15 and hit Borah, when he was crossing the road.
The body was trapped under the bus and was dragged for more than a kilometer from the accident site to Bebejia police outpost, where the driver of the bus surrendered, police said.
Around noon, a mob blocked the NH 15 for three hours protesting the accident.

They burnt tyres on the road, which led to hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides.
Later additional police forces reached the spot and cleared the road.
