A large number of people belonging to the Republic Veng locality staged a demonstration outside the district court premises here demanding death sentence for the murderer who killed five people of a family on the night of January nine last.
The people shouted slogans in front of the court premises demanding that the perpetrator of the gruesome multiple murder should be hanged.
Laltlanchhuaha (37), the accused in the murder case, appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and the trial was on after the police submitted charge sheet against him.
The Police said Laltlanchhuaha reportedly confessed to his crime before a magistrate and said he committed the multiple murders in a fit of rage and stabbed five people to death during a span of about half-an-hour.
The accused was quoted as saying that he first stabbed Sangliansiama (57), owner of the house, who refused to pay the former his wages for a month, and then stabbed Sangliansiama's wife after she started shouting for help.
He claimed he killed other three people as they, including the five-year-old boy Jerome Lalrinnunga, were trying to attack him.
Only two persons survived the attack - the housemaid who was hiding inside the bathroom and an architect, a close relative, who was not at home when the incident took place.
