The people shouted slogans in front of the court premises demanding that the perpetrator of the gruesome multiple murder should be hanged.
Laltlanchhuaha (37), the accused in the murder case, appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and the trial was on after the police submitted charge sheet against him.
The Police said Laltlanchhuaha reportedly confessed to his crime before a magistrate and said he committed the multiple murders in a fit of rage and stabbed five people to death during a span of about half-an-hour.
He claimed he killed other three people as they, including the five-year-old boy Jerome Lalrinnunga, were trying to attack him.
Only two persons survived the attack - the housemaid who was hiding inside the bathroom and an architect, a close relative, who was not at home when the incident took place.
