"Past governments (Congress) in the state have sinned by keeping society in the dark and ignoring the primary education in the state," Modi said at the time of inaugurating the eleventh edition of 'Shala Praveshotsav' (school admission festival).
Addressing parents and students in Lihoda village of Dehgam near here, he said, "If society itself will take the lead in the awareness campaign through education, then not only future generation of Gujarat will be fully educated but state will lead the nation to come out of poverty and illiteracy.
Modi visited three schools in as many villages of Gandhinagar district and distributed text books, notebooks, school bags among other things.
