Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Thursday said the Narendra Modi government at the Centre has added a new chapter by providing 10 per cent reservation to economically weaker people in the general category.

"The way Rozgar Mahakumb organised Thursday in Jharkhand will see the same in the whole country in the coming times and the reservation based on economic criteria will benefit the poor," said Pradhan, the Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship minister.

Addressing the 'Global Skill Summit, 2019' at Khelgaon in the presence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and other eminent guests, Pradhan said after 70 years of independence, reservation on the basis of the poor (category) was provided.

He appreciated the Jharkhand governments efforts in bringing the industry, the youth and the government on one platform, adding for the first time in the history of independent India that over one lakh youth got letters at one go.

Pradhan said that other states will also get support in Jharkhands efforts in skill development.

He said textile industry in Vietnam is giving competition to China and the youth here could also learn and challenge the world.

Pradhan also informed that there was a need for trained manpower in several countries and there was a need to skill the youth as per the needs.

The Jharkhand government Thursday gave appointment letters to 11 youths symbolically as one lakh and six thousand youth got jobs in the private sector.
