Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met BJP MPs from Bihar and Chhattisgarh and asked them to work for the welfare of the common man as they represented them.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar prasad, who hails from Bihar, was also present during the interaction with Modi at his residence where a total of 34 MPs were present.
Modi told the MPs that the people of the country had reposed faith in them by giving the party an absolute majority and they have to work keeping in mind the interests of the common man, according to a BJP press release.
He said the people had handed BJP a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls, which Congress was unable to digest. He also asked them to continue their work and not get diverted by Congress' "negative" politics.
Modi told the MPs that since they were public representatives, they need to work in public interest and increase public contact.
The Prime Minister also apprised them about the 'bold" decisions and initiatives taken by the new government and asked them to take them to the public.
MPs from Bihar also lauded the Centre's pro-active role in flood relief measures in the state.
The meeting was part of a series of the PM's interactions with party MPs from states.
Modi had earlier met BJP MPs from states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Maharashtra.
