Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at Mandi would have no impact on the poll prospects of BJP in the state.
In an informal chat with mediapersons after addressing a rally in Kullu, he said he wholeheartedly welcomes Modi to the state but his coming to Himachal Pradesh would have no impact on the electoral prospects of the saffron party as people have "full faith" in programmes and policies of the Congress party.
"For people in Himachal Pradesh, Congress is synonym for development as it had always speeded up the development and fulfilled the promise made to the people, and during the present term also, the government has ensured unprecedented development of all areas of the state," he claimed.
Modi is expected to visit the state on October 18 and address two rallies at Nahan and Mandi.
Singh asserted that Himachal Pradesh has become a "role model" of development for hilly states and in the field of education, "It was among the top states in the country".
The Chief Minister, who was on the two-day visit to Kullu in connection with Dussehra festival, laid the foundation stones of drinking water and irrigation related projects and also inaugurated the Lift Water Supply Scheme to provide water to partially covered cluster villages in Mohal.
Next assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh are due in November 2017.
