Mohsin demands sacking of PCB officials, says will meet PM

Former Test batsman and coach Mohsin Khan today said that he would be meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to demand the sacking of Pakistan Cricket Board and team officials for their failure to bring about improvement in the national side.
An emotional Mohsin, who was removed as head coach in March last year, said he was appalled at the state of affairs in Pakistan cricket.
"The way the team has performed in the Champions Trophy is shameful and all those people who are responsible for this should be held accountable," Mohsin, who has also served as chief selector, said.

"I have asked for a meeting with the Prime Minister and I will apprise him of everything. I will ask him to remove all those people who are not sincere and have harmed Pakistan cricket," he said.
Mohsin said that the people behind the appointment of head coach Dav Whatmore and the waste of money on foreign coaches needed to held responsible for their actions.
"The players performed poorly that is a separate issue. But what about those people who are responsible for motivating these players and providing them the best facilities. I saw no planning or strategy in the team when it played the Champions Trophy," he added.

Pakistan lost to West Indies and South Africa to tumble out of the eight-nation tournament. On both occasions, the batsmen failed to even score 200 runs. Pakistan now India in the last group match on Saturday before returning home in what is expected to be an angry reception.

Under Mohsin, Pakistan won Test and ODI series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and whitewashed England, the world's number one Test team at that time, 3-0 before losing the ODI series to them.
It was during the Test series that the PCB under chairman Zaka Ashraf said they were bringing in Whatmore as new coach and that Mohsin had only been an interim arrangement.

Nawaz Sharif is known to be an ardent follower of the game and is expected to bring his own people to run the PCB affairs. The Islamabad High Court is due to hold a hearing of a constitutional writ petition tomorrow after stopping Ashraf from working as chairman of the Board.
