Singapore's Consulate-General in Chennai has contacted most of its registered nationals in Tamil Nadu and reported they were safe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
"The Consulate is in the process of contacting the remaining Singaporeans," it said.

"Our Consulate will continue to monitor the flood situation closely and render the necessary consular assistance to Singaporeans there," the ministry said.
Nearly 250 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state.
