The 12-day Monsoon session of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, that begins here tomorrow, is likely to be stormy with the opposition Congress deciding to raise the issue of corruption to corner the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.
"We are going to vociferously raise the issue of rampant corruption in the state, among other issues, in the House," the acting Leader of Opposition Bala Bachchan told PTI today.
He said they are also going to raise the collapse of two newly-built dams worth Rs 71 crore at Panna district. "These dams could not withstand the first rainfall," he said.
"Besides, we will raise the issue of corruption during the month-long Simhastha-Kumbh Mela at Ujjain that ended in May," he alleged.
The government did not build the number of toilets at Kumbh which it had claimed in media and this smacks of huge corruption, Bachchan said.
"We are also going to take to task the government over the number of suicides committed by students and farmers recently," he said.
During this session, the state government has decided to introduce a Bill to amend a law for levying entry cess on the goods purchased online.
Madhya Pradesh Finance and Commercial Taxes Minister Jayant Malaiya told PTI in Indore district "The government is going to bring in an amendment Bill to levy 6 per cent entry tax on the goods of the e-commerce companies during the Monsoon session of the Assembly beginning tomorrow."
Expressing hope that the entry tax once cleared by the House, will fetch an additional Rs 300 crore to the state in the current fiscal, the minister added that the Tax(Amendment) Bill 2016 has been cleared by the state cabinet on July 5.
During the session, ten sittings of the House will take place to transact official and non-official business, an Assembly official said.
