Taking a swipe at faction-ridden Congress in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today dared the party to pick a leader against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the assembly polls, due later this year.
"Our mascot for in Madhya Pradesh assembly polls is Shivraj Singh Chouahn. I ask the Congress to pick a chief ministerial candidate against Shivraj if the party is united and efficient," Madhya Pradesh BJYM president Abhilash Pandey told reporters here.
BJYM is the youth wing of the BJP.
Pandey is leading a motorbikes' rally in 110 assembly constituencies across 37 districts where the BJP had either won or lost by a margin of 5,000 votes in 2013 polls.
Taking potshot at state Congress chief Kamal Nath, he said, "Kamal Nath is not a state-level leader, but a leader of Chhindwara (his parliamentary constituency). While Shivraj is the son of a farmer, Kamal Nath represents industrialists".
Responding to a query on growing activities of quota leader Hardik Patel in Madhya Pradesh, Pandey said the Congress lost in Gujarat due to the "help" extended by Hardik.
"If he supports the Congress in MP as well, we will defeat them again," he said.
Pandey said the reservation matter is pending before court.
"We respect judiciary. Our government protects the rights of all sections of the society," he said.
Pandey said the BJP would consider "winnability factor" while allotting tickets for the polls and will not allow nepotism.
"Being a son of a politician is not a boon or bane. The BJP will take into account winnability factor while selecting candidates," Pandey said while responding to a query on speculations that sons of many BJP leaders might get tickets.
The 4000-km motorbikes rally started on June 15 from Agar Malwa district and would culminate on July 3 in Chhindwara district.
