Steel silos have been built at Bhopal, Indore, Sehore, Dewas, Ujjain and Vidisha, while construction is in final stage in Satna, Harda and Hoshangabad.
"So far, 4 lakh MT silo storage capacity has been created," a government spokesperson said here today.
Foodgrains can be stored safely for three years in these silos. Also, no gunny bags are required as the food grains can be deposited directly.
The state gives a 10-year commercial guarantee to the private entities which invest in such silos.
The total investment in these silos at nine places is about Rs 270 crore, the official said.
