Shukla (84), who suffered bullet injuries in the deadly Naxal attack that eliminated Chhattisgarh party leadership over a fortnight ago, died at Medanta Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon due to multi-organ failure.
"Shukla was a leader who always remained a great source of inspiration to young leaders. The country has lost an able and a sharp leader with the passing away of Shukla," the Governor said in a message.
Terming the death of Shukla as an irreparable loss to the country, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that "Shukla was a senior Congress leader who had dedicated his entire life for serving the country".
