Launching an attack, state unit Congress president Kantilal Bhuria has termed forcible hospitalisation of two students, including a 21-year-old girl, who were on fast against the scam, by police yesterday as "dictatorship" by the state government.
"BJP government is avoiding ordering CBI probe in the PMT scam to shield some influential persons who are linked to the scam that has deprived thousands of eligible students of their due right (to get admission)," Bhuria said in a release.
Meanwhile, Congress activists today set afire an effigy of Chouhan near city Congress office.
The students are demanding expediting the process of filling seats that have fallen vacant after state government cancelled admissions of those students who allegedly secured their seats in medical colleges through fraudulent means.
The MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) had disqualified those students who had been identified by the probe agencies and allegedly benefited from irregularities in the entrance examination.
The Special Task Force of MP Police, which is investigating the scam, had already filed a chargesheet in the Indore bench of the high court against 28 persons including some officials of the board.
