"It is very disappointing that such an irresponsible remark came from the Centre's home minister," Gupta told reporters here during a personal visit.

"It reflects the mentality of the Congress Party and it is not in the interest of the country. Shinde has lost the moral right to hold such a prestigious office of home minister," he said.

It has given a very wrong message to neighbouring Pakistan and would weaken India's stand against terrorism, he said.

When asked to comment on All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijay Singh who allegedly pre-fixed or suffixed respectful words with terrorists' names, Gupta said, "No one takes his words seriously".

However, Gupta said investigating agencies, including the CBI and NIA, were being misused by the Congress and these were merely "sarkari agencies".

"There have been a number of incidents in the past where we have seen blatant misuse of investigating agencies," he said.
