A mother-son duo was Tuesday arrested after the charred body of a three-year-old boy was found near his house a few hours earlier in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, police said.
Varun, son of a local resident Vipin Meena, was Sunday kidnapped when he went out of his home at Baragarh in Chichali area here to buy chocolates.
The child's burnt body was found around 50 feet away from his home on Tuesday afternoon, Kolar police station inspector Anil Bajpai said.
Sunita Solanki (40) and her son Shubham (20) have been arrested for the crime, Bhopal Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Irshad Wali told reporters Tuesday evening.
"Sunita put the charred body in an empty house nearby. Shubham helped her in the act. When the Solankis had gone out last month, their house was burgled and they suspected Varun's family. In an act of vengeance, they killed the boy," Wali said.
The child had taken Rs 10 from his grandfather to buy chocolates on Sunday. When he did not return after an hour, his family panicked and approached the police.
