An accused in the Madhya Pradesh PEB scam has sought to drag the son of state's Governor Ram Naresh Yadav into it alleging he took money to help candidates.
In his statement to the Special Task Force (STF) probing the Professional Examination Board(PEB) scam, Veerpal Yadav alleged that he handed over a list of 10 candidates and Rs 3 lakh to his friend Vijay Pal, who gave the money and names allegedly to the Governor's son Shailesh Yadav at Raj Bhawan.
Veerpal has been arrested and is in jail in connection with the case.
Veerpal's statement has been appended to the supplementary charge sheet filed by the STF yesterday against former MP Higher and Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma, his OSD O P Shukla, Veerpal and Arun Yadav for allegedly rigging the contract teachers grade (III) examination conducted by PEB in 2011. All of them are currently in jail.
According to the charge sheet filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Pankaj Singh Maheshwari, Vijay Pal has corroborated Veerpal's statement.
All the 10 candidates passed their written test but could not qualify for the job as they did not have a Diploma in Education (DEd) or Bachelors of Education (BEd) degree.
The Governor's Principal Secretary and his Aide-de-Camp (ADC) Kuldeep Singh Baghela declined to comment.
Raj Bhavan had come under the STF scanner earlier also when the Governor's former Officer on Special Duty Dhanraj Yadav was arrested in connection with the scam.
