Taking a cognisance of media reports on the incident, MPHRC issued notices to Urban Administration and Development Department's Principal Secretary and Chief Engineer, and Bhopal civic chief, directing them to submit a report on the collapse within a week's time, the Commission sources said.
The overhead water tank came down crashing in Saibaba Nagar slum area in the wee hours yesterday. The cause of the mishap was not yet known.
MPHRC also took cognisance of the reports of alleged suicide by a woman in Dokaria village, Katni district to protest land acquisition for a power plant. It directed the District Collector and the SP to submit a detailed report on the incident within seven days, the sources said.
The farmers of Dokaria and Bujbuja villages are opposing land acquisition for the private power plant in the area.
