"Centre has announced to confer on Madhya Pradesh the prestigious Krishi Karman Award 2015-16 for the fifth consecutive year. MP will receive the award under category - wheat production," a Public Relations department officer said.
"MP wheat production in 2015-16 stood at 184.10 lakh tonnes as against 171.03 lakh tonnes in 2014-15, a rise of 7.64 per cent. Wheat productivity grew to 3,115 kilograms per hectare in the state, which was was 2,850 kgs per hectare last year," he said.
As honour, the state government will receive a trophy, citation letter and a cash reward of Rs 2 crore, he said.
Meanwhile, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated all farmers, officers of the agriculture department and organisations connected with agriculture development.
