Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the state government will enrol within three months all eligible persons in the new social security schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The three schemes -- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) -- aimed at providing social security and pension, were launched in the state by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chouhan at a function here.
"We will include all eligible persons in the schemes within three months' time as it is for the first time in the country's 60-year long history that such schemes, aimed at providing social security, have been launched," Chouhan said.
He praised the Prime Minister for coming up with these "novel" and "innovative" schemes after successfully launching the Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojna.
Swaraj explained the benefits of the three schemes and urged the people to enrol in them.
Under the Atal Pension Yojana, she said, the beneficiary will get a pension ranging between Rs 1,000-5,000 from the age of 60. After his/her death, the spouse will get the same amount; after the spouse's death, the nominee children will get Rs 8.5 lakh as one-time benefit.
In other countries, almost entire population is covered by pension schemes, but in India 80-90 per cent people do not have pension cover, Swaraj noted.
Central Bank's CMD Rajiv Rishi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Antony DeSa also spoke at the function.
