"There is a need to disseminate information regarding a slew of welfare schemes being run for the minorities in state. I am going to lay thrust on this," Bhalla told reporters during his maiden interaction with media after taking over as MPSMC member on January 13.
"I want that the maximum number of minority community people reap the benefit of welfare schemes being run for them in the state," he said.
"We are going to ensure that the complaints which come to us are addressed as soon as possible," Bhalla, a renowned ENT surgeon from MP said.
In Madhya Pradesh, the minority community member gets a certificate of his minority status in just a few seconds. He or she merely has to furnish an affidavit, he said.
"The certificate comes handy to avail government benefits," he added.
Bhalla, who is also member of the central working committee of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has been appointed member of MPSMS after a gap of two years.
