"Mr Robot" creator Sam Esmail is planning to adapt Fritz Lang's sci-fi classic "Metropolis" for the small screen.
The producer is already working on a miniseries based on the 1927 movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series will be set in a futuristic world in which two lovers on opposite sides of a class divide conspire to bring down the system.
The world of Metropolis has two opposite categories- one of wealthy industrialists in high-rise towers, and other of oppressed workers, who operate to power the city.
The concept team for the show is untraditional, consisting of only two or three writers coming together to pen the adaptation.
Universal Cable Productions will make the series, and is apparently prepared to spend around USD 10 million per episode.
