The Mumbai police on Wednesday used drones for making a public announcement about the measures to tackle the coronavirus epidemic and the ongoing lockdown.
The announcement warned people to keep away from roads and stay at home.
Drones fitted with public announcement system flew over Dongri in south Mumbai and some adjoining areas.
The purpose was to effectively convey the message in crowded areas, said a police official.
"People should stay inside their houses to fight against the coronavirus. If anyone comes out it will be a violation of curfew and the person will be booked under section 188 and other sections of IPC," said the message.
Section 188 deals with 'disobedience of lawful order issued by a public servant'.
