Beginning today at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, 'The Lil Flea' promises to be a memorable experience for Delhiites who will have at their disposal hundreds of hand- picked indie brands, best of popup shops, home chefs and bakers, and loads of lil things like book exchange, pillow movies lounge, story telling sessions, open mics and much more.
"The market is a discovery-platform as you will find things in the market which are otherwise not available in the regular Delhi markets. We decided to come to the national capital after demand from various stakeholders," Alankar Jain, co-founder of The Lil Flea told PTI.
Some of the participating brands include 'Love them Peaches', 'Suchali's Artisan Bakehouse', 'Bong Chop Shop', 'Between Buns', 'Ciao Cookies', 'The Pickle Co', 'The Muffin Project', 'Sita Ram Diwan Chand' among others.
The price range of goods will vary from Rs 200 and go as high as Rs 7,000.
The market is also good news for bibliophiles who have exhausted their book collections and are looking to expand their reading list.
"You will get a book in exchange of a book you already have. This is sort of community exchange. You have to give a book to get another. We all have books which we no longer read. This gives you an option to replace that book with a new one," Jain said.
To make the weekend happy and vibrant, the organisers decided to add a dash of live music, with the best of indie artists performing their upbeat tunes and acoustics.
"The internet may have made it easy to explore indie artists, but neither Spotify nor Apple can counter a live performance and the thrill of discovering an artist by listening to them in front of you," organisers said.
The shopping element is obviously one of the major attractions of the market, as the Lil Flea bring brands that will make visitors go on a shopping spree.
Visitors can choose from super edgy fashion accessories, stunning dream-catchers, contemporary bags and quirky prints and pop culture artwork in the form of wall and home dcor.
The market also promises to change the movie watching experience with their 'All-Day Movie Lounge', where classics like 'Pather Panchali' can be enjoyed through the day, sitting on a couch or the green grass with wireless headphones.
"Also, the classic Coke has been tossed out for Biras, for those who cannot do movies without combos," organisers said.
"We are planning to organise the Delhi edition twice a year and will also expand this to other cities like Pune and Hyderabad," organisers said.
