"The CG Open offers the highest prize money so far for any golf event held in Mumbai. Also this tournament and next week's Delhi Golf Club Open are very important to determine the two places that we have got for the USD 6 million Barclays Singapore Open," said Padamjit Sandhi, director of Professional Golf Tour of India, at a media conference today.

"This tournament and the following one in Delhi will help the players improve their rankings ahead of the Singapore Open," he added.

The winner of the CG Open will take home Rs 1.61 lakh and the runners-up will get Rs 1.11 lakh

Digvijay Singh, currently fourth in the Rolex rankings with one title triumph from six appearances, said he was only focused on playing good golf and was not concentrating on the rankings.

"I am aiming to play good golf and rankings will follow. I have had a great year so far and am looking forward to play in one more tournament," said Digvijay.

CG Open has attracted top golfers like 2011 rankings champion Chiragh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, C Muniyappa, Mukesh Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan, Rashid Khan and Gautar Ghei from India, besides Kunal Bhasin of Australia, Mithun Perera and Anura Rohana of Sri Lanka and Md Zamal Hossain Mollah from Bangladesh.

Chiragh, currently ranked a lowly 42nd, said he had not played much this year in India.
