Murder convict serving life term commits suicide in HP jail

A murder convict serving a life sentence allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself in Model Central Jail, Nahan, in Himachal Pradesh, authorities said.

Arjun Bahadur committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in the jail, located in the Sirmaur district, Jail superintendent Jai Gopal Lodta told PTI.

Bahadur was undergoing life imprisonment and was lodged in the jail since long, he added.

An FIR was registered under relevant sections and a probe initiated, the Shirmaur police said.
