Pakistani rock band Noori, Swedish metal giants Meshuggah and Delhi's Nucleya along with Mumbai's hardcore Scribe and the Soundclash were among those who kicked off the Bacardi NH7 Weekender music festival at the Buddh International Formula One circuit here.
Noori comprising brothers, Ali Noor and Ali Hamza and considered to have pioneered a pop revolution in Pakistan and has been in the music scene for a decade, performed hits like "Saari Raat" and other tracks.
The venue of the two-day festival divided into six stages saw multiple performaces simultaneously. A crowd of people dressed in black T-shirts roared in appreciation when Swedish Extreme Metal Band Meshuggah took to the stage with their guitar riffs including their famous track 'Bleed'.
The band nominated for a Swedish Grammy has been known to fuse their distinct style of metal with influences ranging from death and thrash metal to jazz fusion.
Another stage witnessed desi hardcore Metal band Scribe in full form, yet another podium saw London's Shiva Soundsystem in flow.
"A crowd of about 3,000 turned up for the show on the first day itself," organisers said.
Australian audio visual DJ and producer Sampology - in India as part of the Aussie BBQ - showcased stunning visuals. including a collection of clips from cult Bollywood films - featuring the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty.
Indie bands and artists like Lucky Ali, Rajasthan Roots and Faridkot also belted out their tracks.
Visible from kilometres away, a giant Ferris wheel sitting smack in the middle of the Bazaar area on the festival grounds was easily one of the most popular destinations at the festival. Children, parents, uncles and aunts thronged the area, waiting for their turn on the ride.
A hot air balloon took some festival goers up for a spectacular bird's-eye view of the festival grounds.
