R Muthuraj, an Indian Trade Service officer has been appointed as the Development Commissioner, Sri City, with immediate effect.
Sri City, situated about 125 km from here, has a multi-product special economic, free trade and warehousing, domestic tariff zone and electronics manufacturing cluster.
About 150 companies from 27 countries have set up base in Sri City campus, Tada.
Muthuraj replaces M K Shanmuga Sundaram, Development Commissioner, Madras Export Processing Zone, who was holding additional charge, a press release said.
Prior to taking up the new role, Muthuraj worked as Joint Director, Director General of Foreign Trade in Chennai and Kochi, the release added.
