Ron Bass, who wrote the feature screenplay, will co-write the pilot with Jessica Amento ,for the series put in development by ABC, reported Deadline.
The 73-year-old Oscar-winning scribe will also serve as the executive producer with Happy Madison's Doug Robinson, Mike Menchel and the film's producer Jerry Zucker and Janet Zucker.
The story will pick up from where the P J Hogan's movie left off.
The film revolved around Julianne Potter, the character played by Julia Roberts, who tries to win back her best friend, Michael (Dermot Mulroney) by trying to subotage his marriage.
