An eighth grader, she was a student of the Sharjah Indian School and lived with her parents in Ajman, the Khaleej Times reported.
However, the body was found in a residential building behind a hotel in Al-Qasimiya area of Sharjah.
Sharjah police confirmed that patrols, CID officers, an ambulance team and forensic experts rushed to the scene and found the girl lying in a pool of blood and motionless.
The body was shifted to the forensic laboratory and her parents were taken into custody for interrogation, the police said yesterday.
"The student was dropped off in front of her apartment around 3pm. The CCTV footage from the bus confirmed this," he said.
"When the parents said she did not reach home, our staff also went to search for her in Ajman. We had no clue that she might have come to Sharjah," he added.
Quoting sources, the paper said the girl took a cab from Ajman to Al-Qasimiya area and did not have enough money to pay for the taxi fare.
A resident of the building, where the tragedy took place, said the girl had fallen into the ventilation shaft near the kitchen on the first floor of the building.
