Nabard chairman Harsh Kumar Bhanwala today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and extended his support to a host of issues including climate change and rural infrastructure development, the development bank said in a release.
Bhanwala also highlighted the need for addressing the issues related to water and state patronage through a comprehensive state farmers producers companies policy.
He extended Nabard's support to the state for addressing the climate change issues that have emerged as a major cause of concern with more than 30 districts being identified as climatically vulnerable, the release said.
The chief minister expressed hope that the immense potential available in the state for driving the growth of agriculture and rural development shall be harnessed adequately through various initiatives by the state and that the support of NABARD was more than important at this juncture for focusing on development of core and primary sectors of the state.
Earlier in the day, Bhanwala, who is on a two day visit to the state, met UP Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Sahi and discussed issues pertaining to doubling of farmers income in detail.
