The 32nd National Games in 2002 were conducted in Hyderabad when Naidu was Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu recalled that National Games conducted in 2002 had resulted in creation of a world class sports infrastructure in Hyderabad.

"In pursuance of the spirit and endurance of the aforementioned facts, I would like to bring to your kind notice that the Andhra Pradesh State is willing to bid for hosting the ensuing 39th National Games at Vijayawada city, if given the opportunity," Naidu said in his letter.
"Our preparedness and ability to conduct the ensuing National Games, is evident from conduct of previous tournaments both at national and international level with outstanding success," Naidu said in his letter.
Organising the National Games in Vijayawada would lead to creation of a world-class sports infrastructure at Vijayawada and also other major cities of Andhra Pradesh including Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Kakinada, he said.
It would also help in development of the region and improvement of social and physical infrastructure, Naidu said.
