Nallakannu demands constitution of CWAB

CPI leader R Nallakannu today demanded constitution of Cauvery Water Management Board so that the construction of dam at Mekedattu could be stopped.
Talking to newsmen here today he blamed the Centre for delaying the forming of the Board. Even during the British days, the construction of dams was not done without the consent of the riparian states, he said.
Referring to the killing of 20 Tamils in Andhra Pradesh, he said there should be high level judicial inquiry into the the incident.
On the the death of the agro-engineer Muthukumarasamy, he said, the investigation into the matter should be done by CBI.
Strongly opposing the Land Acquisition Bill, he said the Government had refused to include the two main suggestions made by the Left parties, which included Consent of the farmers and consent of the local residents.
"Otherwise it will land grabbing bill to help the Multinational companies and big industrialists".
