Popular folk singer Narendra Singh Negi was rushed to hospital on Wednesday night following a heart attack.
He is in the ICU on ventilator support and doctors are attending on him, officials from Max Hospital said today.
Negi, 67, was admitted to the CMI hospital here after he complained of chest pain last evening. He was later referred to Max Hospital by doctors after his condition worsened late in the night.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and his predecessor Harish Rawat visited the hospital to enquire about the singer's condition.
Fans, admirers, relatives and acquaintances have also been queueing up outside the hospital, hospital sources said.
A hugely popular folk singer from the hill state, Negi named his first music album after Buraans, a unique flower growing in the hills of Uttarakhand. He has sung over 1000 songs.
He has also sung numbers in Garhwali movies such as "Chakrachal", "Gharjawai", and "Meri Ganga Holi Ta Maima Aali.
