According to an official release, NCST Chairman Rameshwar Oraon, accompanied by officials of the Commission, held a meeting with the Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla and DGP Khagen Sarma this morning.
"In the meeting, he (Oraon) had detailed discussions about the recent incidents of violence in the state and the situation emerging from it. He was briefed about all the steps taken by the state government on the issue," the release said.

"He (Oraon) also expressed satisfaction at the relief and rehabilitation arrangements made by the Government of Assam.
He, however, expressed his apprehension about rumour mongering and appealed to all concerned not to give credence to rumour mongering or spread rumours," the release said.
The meeting was also attended by the Principal Secretary (Home), Principal Secretary (WPT&BC) and Assam State Disaster Management Authority CEO, it added.
