The two-day event, to be held in association with Tamil Nadu Cycling Association, attracted over 250 entries in eight categories, Race Director Arjun Bala told reporters today.
A new veteran category for those aged above 55 has been introduced for the event, which carries a prize money of Rs 2.2 lakh.
Other categories include kids 4-8 years and 9-13 years, professionals, amateur men and women, under 18, masters men and women above 35, he said.
The elite category will be reserved for professionals and the riders will be competing with the best in the country from Delhi, Imphal and Pune among other places.
