The Lok Adalat, held by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), disposed of cases relating to recovery suits in which banks, financial institutions and others participated and were able to arrive at final settlements worth more than Rs 300 crore.
According to NALSA, more than 68,000 cases, which include over 38,000 pending cases and around 30,000 pre-litigation matters, have been settled.

"It is evident that the National Lok Adalat has greatly benefited the common man and it has been achieved not only because of the legal services authorities/committees but also because of the cooperation extended by the judges, lawyers and various authorities including banks and financial institutions," a release issued by NALSA said.
