National sub-jr handball championship to begin from Jan 19

Over 600 players from across the country will take part in the 32nd National Boy's Sub-Junior Handball championship, which will commence at JRD Tata Sports complex here from January 19.
Jharkhand State Handball Association (JSHA) President, Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu told a press meet over 600 players from 30 states and sports institutions such as Sport Authority of India (SAI) will be seen in action during the six-day long meet.
Balmuchu said barring Andhra Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, all the states and units have confirmed their participation in the championship.
Tripura and Nagaland are the new entrants in the national championship, he said expressing confidence that the championship will be a success.
Stating that JSHA was involved in promoting the game across the state, Balamuchu regretted that the state association could not yet develop infrastructure of its own due to non-availability of land.
Fund was not a problem but the land, he said adding that JSHA was in negotiation with Tata Steel in this regard.
Balmuchu expressed hope that the association would soon develop a Teraflx handball ground in JRD Tata Sport complex ground.
He said the championship, being hosted in the steel city for the first time, will be followed by the Annual General Meeting of Handball Federation of India on January 23.
