All the 17 new chairpersons of the district planning committees belonged to the ruling BJD and also some ministers have been given the post.
The ministers who have been appointed as heads of the DPCs were: Niranjan Pujari (Baragarh), Ananta Das (Bhadrak), Surya Narayan Patro (Bolangir), Pratap Jena (Gajapati), Nrusingha Charan Sahu (Kendrapara), Sashi Bhusan Behera (Nayagarh), Ramesh Chandra Majhi (Nuapada), Chandrasarathi Behera (Malkangiri), Sushant Singh (Sambalpur) and Badrinarayan Patra (Sonepur).
The ruling party MLAs were: Mahidhar Rana (Boudh), Saroj Kumar Samal (Dhenkanal), Rajendra Sahu (Khurda), Prafulla Kumar Pangi (Koraput), Subrat Tarai (Sundargarh), Lalbihari Himirika (Rayagada) and Aswini Kumar Patra (Balasore).
