Indian Navy has rescued a drowning fisherman off the Nagapattinam coast, after he was allegedly pushed into the water by a colleague following a scuffle.
A team headed by leading Seaman S Mondal on Friday spotted a person "drowning" in the sea off the Nagapattinam coast, the navy said in a release here today.
"A lifebuoy was thrown and despite heavy seas, he was rescued and brought ashore," it added.
The rescued man was identified as S Sinduraj from Nagapattinam.
He told the navy personnel that he was pushed overboard by another fisherman after a scuffle, the release said, adding that he has been handed over to the Marine police.
