A naxal, carrying a reward on his head, was arrested, while two ultras, also carrying the bounty, surrendered before police in Dantewada district in a separate incident today.
Bhadru Podiyami (25) was picked up from a local market under Geedam police station area when he was procuring items of daily use for his colleagues, a senior police official told PTI.
Podiyami, allegedly active as the area head of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangthan (DAKMS) -- a frontal outfit of Maoists, was looking after the supply of commodities of daily use and other general items to rebels in Geedam, Tumnar and Barsoor area of Dantewada.
Earlier, he was arrested in 2009 when he was working as a Jan Militia member for the outlawed CPI (Maoist), but was released after a year, the official said, adding that Podiyami was carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head.
In a separate incident, two ultras, carrying reward of Rs one lakh each on their heads, turned themselves in before Dantewada superintendent of police Kamlochan Kashyap and other police officials at the district headquarters.
They have been identified as Madkam Deva (30), a member of Kerlapal (Sukma) LOS (local organisation squad) and Ganga Muchaki (30), head of DAKMS.
The duo will be provided with facilities under the "Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy" of state government, the official added.
