The officer was apprehended just outside CBI headquarters on Lodhi Road this evening while he was allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the contractor, the sources said.
"A case was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on the allegations that the Project Manager of NBCC, Delhi, was demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant, whose firm was providing housekeeping services in CBI head office, Delhi for clearing the firm's bills," a CBI spokesperson said.
"NBCC had awarded the work of housekeeping and maintenance in CBI head office building to the complainant's firm in 2015. The accused Project Manager was supervising the housekeeping work and processed the bills submitted by the firm for payment," the agency Spokesperson Devpreet Singh said.
She said searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused.
