The opposition National Conference (NC) has launched a mass contact programme against the "anti-people" policies of the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir.
"As a responsible opposition, we cannot remain mute spectators to injustice meted out to the people, by the wrong and anti-people policies of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state," NC Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said here yesterday.
Hitting out at the state government, Rana said, "In such a deplorable scenario, how can we remain fence sitters and watch helplessly the developmental edifice falling apart like pieces and peace taking last breaths."
He said the people had not mandated them (PDP-BJP) to power to take them for granted and to leave them in lurch.
"There is performance inertia of the coalition government, which has resulted in public woes getting accumulated with each passing day. While utility services are not up to the mark, the government has miserably failed to meet the demand on account of power supply during the ongoing scorching summer," he said.
Rana alleged that the condition of roads was worsening day by day. He said the PDP-BJP government has miserably failed to put its act together and govern the state.
Rana exhorted the party workers to highlight public woes at the local level during the mass contact programme so that the administration is made to wake up and respond to the problems faced by the people.
