The women wing of the main opposition National Conference today accused the PDP-BJP government of ignoring the plight of the people of Jammu province, by paying no heed towards the maintenance of the utility services.
Addressing a public meeting in Kathua district, the PDP Women Wing President Satwant Kaur Dogra said, that people of Jammu and Kashmir were facing worst ever power and water crises.
"This is due to the callous attitude of the government as hundreds of transformers and PHE sub stations are laying defunct in Kathua and Samba districts and the government has failed to find an everlasting solution for repairs forcing people to suffer in the scorching heat" she said.
She said that certain areas were witnessing power cuts up to 15 hours and the irony is that the Power department was harassing consumers instead of meeting the demand of power.
"The callous attitude of the government has generated a lot of resentment in the people forcing them to protest by blocking roads and highways", she said.
Terming PDP-BJP government a total failure on all fronts, she said that the government has failed to grant compensation to the victims of the cross border and LoC shelling.
She demanded that the government should immediately grant Rs 25 lakhs to those families who lost their loved one besides Rs 20 lakhs to permanent disabled and Rs five lakhs to those who are seriously injured.
