NC will enforce separatists' call for poll boycott: PDP

Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today expressed apprehension that the separatists' call for boycott of elections would be implemented through force by the National Conference (NC).
"I have an apprehension that the boycott call given by Hurriyat Conference will be implemented through violence by the National Conference on the ground. It will be implemented through committing various acts of violence," Mehbooba told reporters here.
The PDP leader said the "unidentified gunmen" come alive during the tenure of the NC even as the militancy is down in the state.
"I do not know where they (gunmen) come from... The militancy is down and if Geelani or others call for boycott, they do not say so on the power of the gun. They say that it is up to the people to boycott or not," she said.

She said, "We, and general people, have this apprehension that NC will go to any extent to enforce boycott because it ultimately helps them.
