NCB seizes cocaine worth Rs five crore

A South African national has been arrested after 990 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs five crore in the black market, was seized from her, official sources said here today.
Acting on a tip off, Narcotics Control Bureau officials intercepted the South African national Molefe Keditlwaetse Lizzie at the International airport here last week when she arrived from Abu Dhabi.
During interrogation the officials seized 990 grams of cocaine from her possession, Narcotics Control Bureau, Zonal Director, Prem Anand Sinha said in a release today.
She was travelling from Sao Paulo to Chennai via Abu Dhabi. The passenger arrived on a tourist visa and was planning to leave the country after delivering the drug, he said.

"It is one of the largest seizures made in Chennai region", he said, adding, the drug was in the purest form and was sourced directly from South America.
Investigations were on to find out whether the passenger had any links in Chennai for the distribution of the drug, he said.
