The NCP today alleged that Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has "backstabbed" city residents by going ahead with the controversial development control rules (DCR) for Nashik.
BJP captured power in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) by winning 66 of the 122 seats.
"The CM has backstabbed Nashik residents by uploading the DCR having vexatious conditions. During his election meeting in Nashik on February 18, Fadnavis had stated that the DCR that was viral on social media was fake.
"However, as soon as the election result was out the same DCR was uploaded on NMC website," said NCP MLA from Nashik Jayawantrao Jadhav in a statement issued here.
Jadhav in the release urged Fadnavis to give relief to residents by cancelling the vexatious-conditions in the DCR.
BJP leaders and civic officials were not available for their comments.
