Sandra Rodrigues (46), who is Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation ward committee chairperson, was caught red-handed at her house yesterday while she was allegedly accepting Rs 50,000 from a complainant.
Rodrigues had allegedly demanded Rs 2.50 lakh from the complainant to overlook an illegal construction in Bhayander and the complainant was to pay Rs 50,000 as the first instalment, ACB officials said.
Accordingly a trap was laid and Rodrigues was caught, they said.
In another case, a chief engineer with Maharashtra State Electricity Discom (MSEDCL) was arrested red-handed while he was allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe.
The complainant had an 'outstanding' bill of Rs 11 lakh and he had approached the chief engineer to discuss if the amount could be reduced.
Patil allegedly agreed to cut down the bill amount to Rs 6 lakh on the condition that the complainant pays him Rs 25,000 for the favour, ACB said.
The complainant then lodged a complaint with Navi Mumbai ACB unit, following which a trap was laid and Patil was caught red-handed while taking the bribe at MSEB's rest house at Uran near here last evening, the release said.
