NCPCR criticises Meghalaya govt

The Commission members, under the leadership of Y Dube, visited the coal mine areas in Jaintia Hills and reviewed the child labour situation with top government officials.

The team members of the Commission were learnt to have criticised the state government for not sending the report for which the Commission had earlier asked from them.

Chief Secretary W M S Pariat briefed the Commission on the situation of child labour besides top officials of Labour, Education, Health, Police and Social Welfare departments giving their own version of actions taken by them in the past six months.
