Taking a cue from the announcement made by the Arvind Kejriwal government to regularise contractual staff, the NDMC has given an in-principle approval to a proposal mooted by its Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar to ensure that the contractual staff gets regularised.
"The council had given a nod to the proposal in its recent meeting and had given a time of 15 days to the civic body to prepare a draft of the modalities required to do the same. The matter will be placed in the next meeting scheduled later this month," a senior NDMC official said.
In January last year, the NDMC had approved the regularisation of jobs of 628 contractual employees on muster roll and those who had completed 500 days of service by April 1, 2014.
However, the council later decided to form a committee after some members suggested that people on temporary muster roll should also be considered for regularisation.
