BJP MP Anurag Thakur today said the country is once again standing at a point where "anti-national" elements are preparing to "disturb" the peaceful atmosphere and the need of the hour is to defeat these forces.
"The country today is once again standing at a point where anti-national elements are preparing to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. The need of the hour is to defeat these forces," Thakur, who is also President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, youth wing of BJP, said on the occasion of 'Tiranga Yatra' function organised by BJYM here this evening.
Touching upon the alleged fake encounter killing of suspected LeT operative Ishrat Jahan, Thakur attacked Congress.
"In Ishrat Jahan case, what is coming to fore is that Congress has vowed to do that what Ishrat could not accomplish with the gun. Ishrat Jahan wanted to eliminate BJP leaders at gun point, Congress party on the other hand wanted to hatch political conspiracy by implicating them (BJP leaders) in false cases," the Hamirpur MP told reporters here.
Thakur also hit out at AICC president Sonia Gandhi accusing her of using the Ishrat Jahan case to unleash "political vendetta" against senior BJP leaders for ten years by questioning the claims of various intelligence agencies that she wasa "terrorist".
He said that even the LeT had claimed that she was terrorist but the Congress tried to use her death as "ploy" to gain political mileage.
He said an atmosphere is being built up "where sometimes artificial debate on intolerance is carried out, sometimes Maoists and terrorists are termed as martyrs."
"Raising of anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans to create divide in the country would not be tolerated and BJYM would give a befitting reply to all such elements," he said.
"Ever since the Narendra Modi government came to power, the prestige of India around the world has gone up, the country is progressing, but some parties want to disturb the country's atmosphere and image. We will not allow that to happen and we will put the truth before people," he said.
He said he was taking out the yatra to create awareness among the youth about nationalism and promote the spirit of 'India First' to the defeat the "nafarious designs" of anti-national elements and made special reference to recent incidents in JNU.
